Evelyn García is Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT CA 108260) who has been working since 2013-2014 providing counseling services to adults, children, and adolescents from diverse backgrounds, providing services in English and Spanish. She earned her Master of Science Degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy at California State University Long Beach and Bachelor of Science Degree from California State Polytechnic University of Pomona.
Her experience has been diverse and has included a background in community mental health where she co-facilitated group therapy in both English and Spanish for female domestic violence survivors and court-ordered substance dependency clients, provided individual therapy to adult individuals with diverse concerns such as depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief, childhood trauma and complex trauma, acculturation issues, family dynamic issues, and somatic symptoms. She also worked over 2 years in community mental in LA County working with children in the foster care system and with their families. She has also worked with underserved children and families with concerns ranging from complex trauma, divorce/separation issues, anxiety, depression, academic concerns. She has training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Seeking Safety, completed Brainspotting-Phase 1 training.
She works with clients providing psychoeducation, encouraging them to be self-advocates in their treatment and lives. She knows each client is unique and uses her training and personal connection to help them understand, express, and process any emotions in their own way and provides a non-judgmental safe space for that and incorporates Client centered, TFCBT, and Brainspotting approaches in treatment. She strongly believes each client has the innate ability to attain healing for issues in their life, although we just sometimes need encouragement and a safe space to explore what
those are for ourselves.
