Answers to popular questions
At our practice, we are committed to transparent and straightforward pricing. Comprehensive psychological assessments range from $2,000 to $5,000, depending on the type and complexity of the evaluation. This fee includes all components of the assessment process, which may involve:
- Diagnostic Intake Interview: A detailed interview to gather information about your history, concerns, and presenting issues.
- Review of Records: Examination of relevant school, medical, or developmental records to provide context.
- School Observation (if needed): On-site observation to assess behavior and functioning in an academic setting.
- Behavioral Observations: In-session observation to supplement clinical understanding.
- Rating Scale Questionnaires: Standardized forms completed by parents, teachers, and/or the client to gain multiple perspectives.
- Feedback Session: A dedicated session to explain results, discuss diagnoses, and provide personalized recommendations ( if Required)
- Comprehensive Psychological Report: A detailed report outlining findings, diagnoses (if applicable), and recommendations for schools, therapists, physicians, or other relevant professionals.
To reserve your initial intake appointment, a $500 payment is required. This amount will be applied toward the total cost of your assessment. Typically, half of the remaining balance is due at the time of your testing appointment, with the final portion collected during the feedback session. Please note that we do require a credit card on file prior to starting services.
If you need to cancel or reschedule your intake appointment with less than 48 hours’ notice, a$100 fee will apply. For testing or feedback appointments, cancellations or rescheduling with less than 48 hours’notice will incur a $500 fee. These sessions require significant time blocks, and rescheduling on short notice makes it difficult to accommodate other clients. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
While we do accept some insurance plans, please note that certain assessments may not be covered by your health insurance. If we are considered out-of-network for your plan, many clients are still able to use their out-of-network benefits to help offset the cost of services. To support you in this process, we offer a complimentary service: we will submit your out-of-network claims on your behalf. This is provided at no cost to you, and we never take a percentage of your reimbursement. Our goal is to make the process as smooth as possible—saving you time and often leading to faster reimbursement. If you have any questions or would like more information about how this works, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
There’s no need to study or prepare in advance for the evaluation. The assessments are designed to measure your current cognitive and/or emotional functioning, not information you’ve recently learned. These tests and questionnaires help the psychologist understand your unique strengths and areas of need, which in turn supports accurate treatment recommendations, necessary accommodations, or determinations related to suitability for employment or other services. To help you perform at your best, we recommend getting a good night’s sleep and arriving well- rested. Be sure to eat beforehand and take any prescribed medications as directed by your physician, unless told otherwise. You’re welcome to bring small snacks, and we’ll include a lunch break if the evaluation extends into the afternoon. Please also ensure that all intake forms sent by our administrative assistant are completed and returned before your appointment. This helps maximize the time spent with the psychologist. If the psychologist has requested academic records, psychiatric documentation, or medical reports, please send those to our office ahead of time. Alternatively, you may sign a release of information so that we can request those records on your behalf.
If you have been found psychologically unsuitable for a safety-sensitive position and would like to pursue an appeal, please follow the steps outlined below:
1. Select an Evaluator
You will need to choose one of our licensed psychologists to conduct your appeal evaluation and notify your hiring agency of your selected evaluator.
All of our psychologists meet POST Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (CPE) requirements.
2. Record Submission
Some hiring agencies will send your psychological evaluation packet directly to us. This may include:
- The initial evaluator’s report
- Prior test results
- Background investigation
- Other relevant documents
Important Notes:
- If your agency handles the transfer of records, we must receive the complete packet before we can schedule your evaluation.
- Preferred Method: Email (fastest and most reliable)
- Other Options:
- Fax: (888) 402-2304
- Mail: Ubuntu Psychological Services
3. Scheduling and Payment
Once we receive your records, our administrative assistant will contact you and send an online invoice.
- Full payment is required before scheduling any testing sessions
- Payment can be made securely via credit card online
- Please note: These evaluations are not billable to insurance, as they are for employment purposes and not considered medically necessary
4. Evaluation Timeline
After payment is received:
- You will be scheduled for both testing and interview sessions
- We typically complete these within a few weeks, depending on availability
- A written report will be sent directly to your hiring agency within two weeks of your interview
In short, no. Our practice has to work directly with your attorney. Your attorney is your advocate, whereas a forensic psychologist is a neutral third party to the legal decision maker or the court, regardless of which side they are retained on. We are not in a “helping role” as forensicevaluators and will only release the report to your attorney. The purpose of a forensic evaluation is to help inform legal arguments and judicial decision-making. You can provide your attorney with our contact information, and we will be happy to speak with them and send over our fee schedule and retainer agreement.
